Announcement from Vic National Parks Association
It's almost crunch time.
The public hearings about AGL’s plan for a giant gas import facility in the heart of Westernport are over.
The panel have submitted their report to the Victorian Minister for Planning, Richard Wynne. It's now up to him to decide how suitable AGL’s project is for Westernport’s unique wildlife haven. We're expecting to hear from him by the end of this month.
What was clear throughout the public hearings was the strength of community opposition to AGL’s risky project. As the decision looms, we need to make sure the Victorian Government knows exactly how powerful the protectors of Westernport are.
This is why we are inviting you to send in a personal message to support ‘Wetsuits for Westernport’ – a state-wide day of action this Sunday, 7 March.
We're part of a huge wave that will flood Minister Wynne with messages on the importance of protecting Westernport.
How can you show your support? Just reply to this email with a short personal message telling the government why you want our beloved Westernport protected.
Your message will join and amplify the voices of thousands of community members – including Environment Victoria, Save Westernport, and Surfrider Foundation Australia, who are all taking action.
Your messages will be compiled and hand delivered to the Minister’s office at Parliament House next week, as part of Surfrider Foundation Australia’s ‘Save Westernport Pavement Paddle Out’ event.
The strength of the VNPA community lies in our shared passion for nature conservation, and if we band together, our voice will be heard loud and clear.
